# What is FRC?

<figure><img src="/files/YwUOZCeL3zswQeoZ7ViC" alt="" width="188"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

FRC is a global robotics competition for high school students. Students design, build, program, and test robots, and gain hands-on experience with technical skills like mechanics and programming. The program's values are "Gracious Professionalism" and "Coopertition", which encourage respect and empathy for other teams.

FRC is the First Robotics Competition. <https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/frc>

Team 8608's district is the First in Michigan (FIM) district found here <https://firstinmichigan.us/FRC/>

### Who is involved?

### The Idea.

Teams like ours from around the world are given a completely new challenge every season and just eight weeks to design, build, and program a competition-ready robot.

Our journey begins with two district events. If we secure enough district points, we advance to the State Championship, facing the best robots from hundreds of miles in every direction.

And if that still isn’t enough, there’s the ultimate goal: the World Championship of Robotics, where every day high school students compete against teams from across the globe, including China, Israel, Turkey, Brazil, Egypt, and more.

But here’s the truth.

This isn’t just about robots.

It’s about preparing the next generation of adults with real, advanced skills, engineering, problem-solving, communication, leadership...all learned in a fast-paced, challenging, and supportive environment. It pushes teams to grow, adapt, and work together, shaping students into confident leaders who give back to their communities.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://alpha-bots.gitbook.io/alpha-bots-8608/what-is-frc.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
